The 2015 Armed Services Blood Program Army-Navy Blood Donor Challenge is officially underway in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. This year, the ASBP will conduct 11 blood drives all across the Washington metro area Nov. 10 to Dec. 8. All blood collected will directly support ill or injured service members, veterans and their families worldwide, and determine which service will win bragging rights and a trophy for the most units of blood donated to the ASBP.
Growing up in Mississippi, we ate whatever was put before us. Today kids get to choose what they want for dinner. Well, my mom gave us a choice, too: "Eat this or starve." Given the limited resources and financial constraints before us, most of those food choices were not the healthiest. I can say that I have had my fair share of processed foods, including potted meat, Spam, lunchmeat and Vienna sausages.
